Posted by: jesse at June 8, 2003 12:12 PMhey, i really want to visit the mountains but i'm not sure on costs plus i was thinking of staying there for a year to get away from the modern world do you think this is the perfect place for this
what are the people like
Once you get there the costs are cheap. In the mountains you can live on a few dollars a day but in the city, Kathmandu, it's gonna be more, maybe $15-20 bucks a day if you stay in a hotel. If you rent something long term I guess it'll be less. The people are generally gentle and friendly although now is not such a good time to go due to the Maoist insurrection/guerilla war heating up. Winters up in the mountains are difficult. Unlike here, you have to walk in - there are no roads. You should do some research, maybe visit for a few weeks first and see if you like it. The best time for trekking is the spring or fall.
Posted by: jesse at November 17, 2003 12:25 PMJesse, thanks for leaving those comments. It seems that the user ( no_shadow_2002@yahoo.com ) does not have a yahoo account.
Either they put in a fake email address (which really burns me up) or they let their email lapse.
Their IP is now BANNED.
But thanks again for theinformation on the Himalayas and the cost of travel in the region.
