MetaGraFix.com is now here 64.35.32.156 DUE to technical difficulties. Special thanks to AdSight for pointing me to the WHOIS about the DNS in one of my flakey moments. Sam there is a good friend and great provider.
If you are looking for http://www.metagrafix.com and are finding a cheesy page that say GoDaddy.com has 'parked' it, say no more. I know about it.
Basically I was in a rush to get to vacation last week and decided to do it technology free. I came home to a deluge of email and on my registrar's account, I was a bit harsh and just deleted many of them.
The domain was up that week I was away and I just forgot about it. Just shoot me. It gets better (or worse!) depending whose shoes you are in. Click below to read more.
So, I find out my domain is expired, renew it, change the DNS from:
PARK7.SECURESERVER.NET
PARK7.SECURESERVER.NET
NS.ADSIGHT.COM
CLASSIC.ADSIGHT.COM
to:
NS.ADSIGHT.COM
CLASSIC.ADSIGHT.COM
PARK7.SECURESERVER.NET (deleted)
PARK8.SECURESERVER.NET (deleted)
I figure all is well. OK, I gotta work on 'figure'ing' it seems ;-)
3 Days, at least 30 times editing the GoDaddy.com DNS page for MetaGraFix.com and about 7 calls later - each day, it is escalated and I am told that there is one person working on it. And that this person has only this to deal with. For 3 days?
So the last call was about 20 minutes ago and a Supervisor is actually going to call me when out from a meeting. Hell, 24/7 support. I really have been nice. REALLY.
But, in a nutshell, my resume and portfolio have resided on this http://www.metagrafix.com site since 1998 - not long in usual years but quite long in 'internet' years as on GoDaddy rep. said. I agree. They have all been really professional but something has to give.
I think I will just hit publish on this article and call them back. It has been an hour (not to mention 3 days of runaround) and they know I am looking to find a new registrar for at least all domains with them. What they do not know is I have steered at least 100 domains their way and might be able to move a good portion of them.
Who knows. If you need metagrafix.com, go here to the IP address for now please:
The trail on this article will be in the COMMENTS as I get them. I just got a call back from a manager who was eager to get me off of the phone to get on top of the situation - hey, I do give the benefit of the doubt. (rarely ;-)
Posted by erik at June 27, 2003 09:44 PMDavid Paterson was the last Rep (not Supervisor) That I talked to. This is not meant to blight them, just the infrstructure that GoDaddy.com is.
Everyone I have talked to at GoDaddy.com on this issue has been understanding. We'll see it fairs...
Posted by: Erik at June 27, 2003 09:59 PMWell, Saturday a manager at GoDaddy.com called me to say the I could now change the DNS records and it should stick.
As of now and after checking a few WHOIS DB's, the problem seems to be resolved.
Posted by: Erik at June 30, 2003 12:38 PMAll Issues are settled. Told ya I'd let y'all know ;-)
