This combination was a BTO option in a Beige Tower G3 from an .edu and is a superb working pull. The computer is gone, but these two were just tested in and 8500 and a MDD Dual 867. They mounted booted the 8500 (OS 9) before I formatted it and tried it in the Dual 867. It mounted fine and as it was BTO in a stock G3, it "should" boot OS X in a new world machine. I have no time to try this but I did test a data transfer and it was fine.
